How do I add Port-to-Port Services for Ocean LCL?

Created by Sebastian Enguidanos, Modified on Thu, 10 Sep at 1:02 PM by Sebastian Enguidanos

Before adding this service, make sure you are in My Services. All services are added by creating a Rate Card, selecting the correct shipping method, and assigning it to the appropriate partner.

Steps:

  1. From the left panel of the screen, click My Services.

  2. On that page, click Create Rate Card.

  3. Select Port-to-Port Services and Ocean LCL.

  4. Name the Rate Card.
Note: An automated name suggestion will appear after selecting the service. You may use the suggested name or enter your own.

  5. Click Create Rate Card.

Once these steps are completed, you will have successfully added the Port-to-Port Ocean LCL service.

Adding your rates

Ocean LCL Port-to-Port rates are set by CSV upload rather than by typing lanes into a form.

  1. Open the Rate Card and download the CSV template. The template is generated for this Rate Card and carries the column headings below.
  2. Fill it in using a spreadsheet program such as Excel or Google Sheets. One row is one lane.
  3. Upload the completed file. Connect validates it and reports the rows that need correcting.

For the upload mechanics and the limits that apply to every rate file, see Can I bulk import my rates?.

Note: An upload replaces the Rate Card's rates rather than adding to them. Always upload one complete file containing every lane you want on the card.

Column guide

Lane columns

Column Required What goes in it
Origin Yes Origin port, as a UN/LOCODE.
Destination Yes Destination port, as a UN/LOCODE.
Carrier SCAC Yes The SCAC of the carrier the rate belongs to.
FCL Carrier SCAC No The SCAC of the underlying FCL carrier, when the consolidation moves on another carrier's service.
Transit Time Yes Whole days.
Currency Yes The currency the rate and minimum charge are quoted in.
W/M Rate Yes The weight or measure rate.
Minimum Charge Yes The minimum charge for the lane.
Per N Kilos Yes The number of kilos the rate applies per.

Note: Ocean LCL identifies carriers by SCAC only. There is no XCAC alternative on this template; XCAC applies to Air Port-to-Port Rate Cards.

Transshipment columns

A lane that moves via an intermediate port uses six further columns. They describe one transshipment leg and are all-or-nothing: fill in all six, or leave all six empty. A partly filled group is rejected, and the error names the row.

Column What goes in it
Via Port The intermediate port, as a UN/LOCODE.
Via Currency The currency for the leg.
Via W/M Rate The weight or measure rate for the leg.
Via Minimum Charge The minimum charge for the leg.
Via Transit Time Whole days for the leg.
Via Dwell Time Whole days the shipment waits at the intermediate port.

Note: Via Currency is never inferred from the lane's own currency. A leg billed in the same currency as its lane still has to state it.
